May was full of garden care, language learning and creative play at Little Miracles Terrigal.
This month’s update shares some of the lovely things happening around the centre, from planting winter crops to learning Darkinjung counting, building table activities and creating with natural materials.
Little Gardeners Caring For Veggies
The children at Little Miracles Terrigal have been busy taking care of their veggie garden.
They planted winter crops, dug through the soil and helped feed their worm friends. These hands-on moments gave the children a chance to care for living things while learning more about where food comes from.
It was muddy, busy and full of teamwork.
Counting In Darkinjung Language
Our educators recently joined a Darkinjung language workshop with the Darkinjung Language Centre.
After learning how to count to 10 in the Darkinjung language, the team brought this learning back to the Mighty Meteors room. The children turned their new counting skills into a fun hand game, using cut-outs of hands to practise together.
It was a joyful way to explore language, culture and memory through play.
Busy Tables In The Amazing Asteroids Room
The Amazing Asteroids room was full of different table activities this month.
The children worked on fine motor skills while building, sorting, creating and exploring new materials. They also practised social skills as they shared space, talked through ideas and worked alongside their friends.
These simple play moments are often where big learning happens.
Natural Materials And Collaborative Art
The Little Angels also took part in a collaborative art project using natural materials from the outdoor environment.
Leaves, pinecones, plants and other textures helped the children creatively connect with nature. As they worked together, they built social skills and enjoyed seeing how everyday items from outside could become part of something beautiful.
It was a calm, thoughtful activity with plenty of little discoveries along the way.
Growing Skills With Hands, Hearts And Nature
May had a lovely Terrigal theme: learning through touch.
Whether the children were planting, counting, building or creating with leaves, they were using their hands to make sense of the world around them. These moments helped build confidence, connection and curiosity in a way that felt playful and real.
