June at Little Miracles, Kanwal had a bit of everything.
Playdough masterpieces, a visit from the recycling experts, music with a treasured community partner and one very busy little car wash. Let’s take a look.
The Magical Colours of Playdough
The month began with the Mighty Meteors elbow-deep in playdough.
The children squished, patted, rolled and shaped it into all kinds of imaginative creations. Along the way, they chatted about their favourite colours and shared them with their friends.
Simple, colourful and completely absorbing. Sometimes the classics really are the best.
Which Bin Does It Go In?
Mid-month, some special visitors arrived from the waste facility with One Coast Council.
The children learned all about recycling and making sure the right rubbish goes into the right bin. They discussed what belongs in each bin, why every bin matters and what happens behind the scenes once the rubbish truck rolls away.
Best of all, the children discovered how they can help make a difference. Thank you to our friends at One Coast Council for the visit and partnership!
Music and Movement with Jenny from Barang
Later in June came a much-loved returning guest.
Jenny from Barang joined the children for another music and movement experience, with colourful ribbons streaming and little feet dancing.
Through music, movement and storytelling, the children connect with and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. We’re so grateful for this partnership and the meaningful cultural experiences it brings to Kanwal.
Scrub-a-Dub at the Car Wash
To round out the month, our Little Angels opened their very own car wash.
A sensory tray was transformed with bubble wrap, blue paper ‘water’, little scrubbing pads and a fleet of wooden cars, complete with a block-built car wash for them to drive through.
The children put their senses, creativity and fine motor skills to work, one squeaky-clean car at a time. Business was booming.
A Big World in Little Hands
June at Kanwal showed just how wide a child’s world can be.
Community visitors brought the outside in, from recycling experts teaching the children to care for the planet, to Jenny from Barang sharing culture through song and dance. And in between, the children built little worlds of their own, from playdough creations to a bustling car wash.
Community, culture and imagination, all in one month. That’s the Kanwal way.
