May was full of muddy hands, big smiles and active little bodies at Little Miracles Niagara Park.
This month’s update shares some of the fun happening around the centre, from garden care and bug hunts to our first Sports Day Friday and a very special gardening visit.
Shining Stars Got Busy In The Garden
The Shining Stars spent time learning how to care for the world around them through hands-on gardening.
The children helped nurture indoor and outdoor plants, explored the worm farm, planted seeds and used natural and recycled materials in art, craft and play. It was a lovely way to build respect for nature while learning that little hands can make a big difference.
They also practised teamwork, responsibility and care for living things as they watered, planted and explored together.
Bug Hunts And Sensory Play
The Rainbows had a curious week exploring a bug-themed sensory tray.
With digging tools, creepy crawlies and insect pictures, the children searched through soil, found bugs and explored different textures. There was plenty of chatter, digging and discovery as they looked closely at the tiny creatures hiding in their play space.
They also enjoyed outdoor mark making with paint, chalk and pencils, adding even more colour and creativity to the week.
Sports Day Fridays Began With A Bang
One of the biggest announcements this month was the launch of Sports Day Fridays.
Every Friday, the children will take part in intentional sports experiences that support physical development, teamwork, coordination, confidence and school readiness. Families were invited to dress children in their favourite sports jersey for the very first Sports Day Friday on 29 May.
It was an exciting new way to finish the week with movement, fun and plenty of energy.
Jerseys, Drills And Big Smiles
The first Sports Day Friday was full of action.
The children tried rugby league drills, safe tackling activities, soccer games, volleyball fun and throwing challenges. There were big smiles, lots of cheering and plenty of chances to try new skills with friends.
It was a fun day for building confidence, coordination, teamwork and resilience through active play.
A Special Gardening Visit
Niagara Park also welcomed a special visitor, Alana from the Wyoming Community Garden.
Alana shared how to create a garden and showed the children all sorts of lovely things found in nature, including rosemary, sage and fruit. The children smelt herbs, helped plant seeds and worked together to build a new garden bed.
It was a beautiful way to connect with the local community and learn more about caring for plants.
Growing Strong From The Garden To The Sports Field
May had a clear theme at Niagara Park: active learning.
Whether the children were digging through soil, watering plants, chasing balls or learning from a community visitor, they were building skills through real experiences. These moments help children grow in confidence, care and curiosity while having plenty of fun along the way.
