May was full of colour, care and curious little hands at Little Miracles Kanwal.
This month’s update shares some of the special moments from around the centre, from Mother’s Day gifts and creative art to sensory play, gardening and a wonderful cultural visit.
A Sweet Start With Mother’s Day
May began with a lovely Mother’s Day surprise for the amazing mums, grandmothers, aunties and mother figures in our Kanwal community.
The children and educators helped share small gifts of appreciation, with lots of thought and love behind them. It was a simple, sweet way to say thank you to the people who give so much care every day.
These moments help children build gratitude, kindness and a strong sense of family connection.
Creative Hands In The Mighty Meteors Room
The Mighty Meteors room was busy with colour, texture and imagination this month.
The children created special art pieces for Mum using tissue paper, bright colours and lots of careful little fingers. Some children kept building on their love of craft too, making unique creations through fun, open-ended play.
These art experiences gave children space to make choices, try new ideas and feel proud of what they made.
Fruit Stamping And The Five Senses
Our shining stars also took part in a fruit stamping sensory activity as part of the five senses interest project.
The children used touch, sight and smell as they looked closely at different fruits, then turned them into colourful stamps. By the end, the table was filled with bright artwork made together through play and teamwork.
It was messy, hands-on and full of happy learning.
Music, Movement And Darkinjung Language
A very special highlight came from Jenny from Barang Regional Alliance, who joined us for an engaging Indigenous music and movement lesson.
The children played interactive musical games, listened to a guided yidaki session and explored animal names in Darkinjung language. They moved, listened, watched and joined in with so much interest.
It was a joyful way to connect with culture, language and community through sound and movement.
Little Gardeners At Work
Outside, the Little Angels enjoyed imaginative play gardening in the sunshine.
With soil, scoops, toy vegetables and garden tools, the children used their fine and gross motor skills while connecting with the natural world. They dug, carried, scooped and pretended, all while learning through play.
Sometimes the best learning happens with muddy hands and big smiles.
Growing Through Colour, Culture And Care
May had a beautiful theme running through it: connection.
From Mother’s Day gifts to fruit stamping, music, movement and gardening, the children had so many chances to connect with people, culture, nature and their own ideas. These everyday moments support confidence, creativity and belonging in a way that feels fun and natural.
