Many Little Miracles families have been asking about the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) changes, particularly the new 3 Day Guarantee starting in January 2026.
If you’re unsure what this means for your child, your routine, or your fees, you’re not alone. Changes like this can feel overwhelming, so we want to make things as clear and stress-free as possible.
Here’s what you need to know.
Do I need to do anything?
For most families, no.
If you’re eligible, Services Australia will automatically apply 72 subsidised hours per fortnight. The only important step is confirming your family income when prompted — this helps keep your CCS running smoothly.

What if my child receives 72 or 100 hours a fortnight already?
Nothing changes your current entitlement stays exactly the same, and your CCS won’t be reduced. The 3 Day Guarantee simply adds extra security, so families don’t lose access to subsidised care if work or study hours change, for example in the case of a reduced employment, your subsidised hours will not dip below 72.
What if we need more than 3 days?
The guarantee is a minimum, not a cap.
If your child attends four or five days, the first 72 hours fall under the guarantee, and any additional hours continue to be subsidised based on your CCS percentage — just like now. For most families needing 4 or 5 days, their activity hours are typically 100 anyway.
Will this make childcare more affordable?
For some families, yes — particularly those who were previously only eligible for 24 or 36 hours of subsidised care each fortnight.
For many others, the biggest benefit is certainty and peace of mind, with no sudden changes or unexpected reductions.
Does the 3 day guarantee mean my child automatically receives 3 days care a week at Little Miracles?
No, the 3 day guarantee refers to the Government subsidising a minimum of 3 days childcare per week. How many days you attend is still based on your current enrolment. Some centres still have availability in some rooms though so if you would like to increase your days per week in light of this increased subsidy, please reach out to your Nominated Supervisor to determine availability.
Can I use my extra subsided hours for casual days?
Yes, casual days are able to be subsided within the 72 hours, for example if you currently attend 2 days per week, a third day per week (either permanent or casual) would be subsidised. (Causal days are subject to availability and booked in the Parent Portal.)
