You’re an Overcomer

You know when you stumble across something that absolutely captivates you and you can’t quite watching? For some, it’s things like Dr Pimple Popper (I’ll never understand that one) for others it’s funny cat videos or cooking tutorials. Social media has offered us a plethora of things to feast our eyes on, things that teach us, gross us out, and inspire us. For me, I like the inspiring category and recently I stumbled across a video that I can’t quit watching for a number of reasons. 1) because the little girl in it is so darn cute. 2) because the song is so catchy. 3) because I am a big believer in the power of words and what we declare over our lives. 4) because the way we think and speak can and does change our circumstances. 5) because this little girl is so darn cute (oh, I’ve said that already) and she is an overcomer.

Let me share about this little girl who has captivated and inspired me. Leah is a 5-year-old with Severe Congenital Neutropenia. She had her 1st bone marrow transplant on 2/7/14 and her 2nd on 3/29/16. She recovering from GVHD (taken from her Facebook Page called ‘Prayers and Love for Leah‘). She is cute, sassy and full of life.

The video that captivated me is one where it appears Leah is sitting in her hospital bed and she’s singing the song ‘You’re an Overcomer by Mandisa‘. Her smile, her understanding of the words and the power of the declaration she is speaking over her life is inspiring. Something we can all learn to do and live. Whatever you are going through today, may this sweet little 5-year-old girl challenge you to believe differently about your circumstance. May you find the strength and courage to face today, tomorrow and the next, knowing that you are an overcomer, that God is in this with you.
